Going Solar in the UK is Now Generating Long-term Benefits

Go solar in the UK

If you haven’t decided yet to use the clean energy provided for free by our Sun, maybe you should reconsider your view on this, because solar energy can provide today not only green electricity for your home or company, but can also provide long-term benefits for homeowners and businesses.

Solar energy is one of the renewable energy sources of the future due to the fact that the Sun will be here sending us heat and light for at least another 5 billion years, which means that we have a great source of free and clean energy for our civilization that can end the era of fossil fuels for a cleaner environment.

What Can A Solar Panel System Do For Your Home Or Company?

Generating clean electricity during the day with a solar panel system installed on your roof can produce both financial and environmental benefits for the homeowner and for companies.

For the homeowner, the solar PV (photovoltaic) system installed on the roof can reduce its energy bills by producing free electricity to cover the daily consumption of energy of the house.

The solar panels installed on the roof will definitely increase the value of the home on the market because buyers are today very interested to get a home that produces its own energy, because such a house has low energy bills.

Using more energy produced by the panels and less energy from the grid will also reduce the carbon footprint of the household.

For a business, a solar PV system installed on the roof can lower its energy bills, which means increased profits for the company.

The Solar Panel Grid Trade Scheme in the UK

The Feed-in tariffs in the UK were first announced in 2008, but they took effect starting with April 2010, and were closed for new applicants on March 31, 2019.

However, solar owners that already used the former platform can continue to use it (at least until new regulations will come into force).

The new Solar Panel Grid Trade Scheme replacing the former scheme, was announced by the Solar Trade Association in 2018, but was officially launched only in April 2019 (right after ending the former scheme for new applicants).

What is the Difference Between the Former Plan and the New Solar Panel Grid Trade Scheme?

The former UK FIT scheme limited the volume of energy sent back to the grid up to 50% of the electricity generated by the solar PV system.

This meant that if the homeowner or the company used less than 50% of the energy produced by its solar modules to cover the energy demand of the household or company, a good part of the energy produced by the PV system was wasted.

Under the new system, the excess energy produced by the solar panels can be used in a more effective way because companies can now set their own prices, allowing users to choose what is the best deal for them.

Why Should Solar Homeowners and Consumers Decide to Join the Solar Panel Trade?

Going solar is more beneficial today because homeowners can use the grid trade schemes, which provides the following advantages:

1. Suitability

The new systems include beside solar modules and inverter, batteries and smarter hubs, which completes the new installations in a quicker and more affordable manner for the buyer.

2. Financial Savings

Using batteries to store the energy produced by your panels will improve make your home more energy efficient, and will send back into the grid only excess energy for which the owner will get a better price.

Grid trade incentives are now available for users, which will increase the interest towards solar panels for a larger number of UK homeowners.

3. A reduced impact on the environment

The new scheme allows the user to consume less energy from the grid and more energy produced by its panels (using batteries), and this will significantly reduce the carbon footprint of the house.

Consuming energy produced by the panels and stored in batteries during the evening and maybe in the morning, will reduce your energy bills, and by allowing the user to send back energy to the grid, will also generate additional savings for you.
