Recycled Car Parts or OEM Parts To Save the Environment?

Recycled car parts

Every driver knows that a new car will work fine for about the first 100,000 miles, but after that, you have to invest your own money in car parts just because the warranty of the vehicle has expired, and after so many miles on the road, the vehicle starts to break down more often than before.

If you have a used vehicle, it may require some repairs after only a couple of days or weeks after buying it, so again, you have to invest money in car parts to replace those that no longer work.

What is the Difference Between Recycled Car Parts and OEM Parts?

From the start, you have to understand that recycled car parts are not aftermarket car parts.

Recycled car parts can be OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) car parts with some level of tear that fit perfectly in your car, and can be bought at a fraction of the price.

When you have to make some repairs on your car, maybe you want to use OEM parts because they are new and original.

However, after visiting a shop for auto repairs, you will find that the amount of money that you have to pay for repairing your vehicle using new OEM parts might be huge.

In some cases, you will have to pay a small fortune just to buy the new OEM parts (without including here the service hours), and this could be a good reason to try other options.

Benefits of Buying Recycled Car Parts

Whenever you need repairs on your car, you always have to look at all the options available.

If you choose recycled parts, you will save money, time, you will use original equipment, and you will also save the environment.

In today’s society, it is wise to save money whenever you can.

The most savings can be made when you have to make a larger payment.

In case you have to repair your car, if you choose recycled parts, it will cost you much less money.

If it’s a more serious repair, you definitely have to choose recycled parts because if you choose new OEM parts, you will pay a fortune.

Choosing the recycled parts over the new OEM parts could make the difference between keeping your car on the road or just letting it rust in the yard.

What you have to do if you choose to save your car?

Look online for used car parts and make a list with all the parts that you need to see how much money you can save by choosing recycled parts over new OEM parts.

2. Saving Time

Using recycled parts that are actually used OEM parts, will save time you will only have to drop off the car for a couple of hours instead of days.

Recycled car parts being original equipment with some level of tear, will fit perfectly in your car, so the mechanics don’t have to spend time fitting them (less shop labor).

Spending less time in the shop will save you both money and time.

3. Original Equipment

Recycled car parts fit perfectly in your car and can come with a short warranty.

In my case, I remember that in 2014, I changed a car part (that was quite expensive to be bought new) with a recycled part that came off from a similar vehicle. The recycled part was 70% cheaper than its new OEM version, and came with a warranty of six months.

Now, after six years and about 80,000 miles, my car still works with that recycled car part because the equipment was original with a low level of tear.

4. Recycled Car Parts Are Good for the Environment

We all know that by reducing the amount of waste produced on the planet, we are helping the environment.

The 3 R’s stand for Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, which is the waste hierarchy used to classify the waste management strategies.

Conclusion

If we can reuse a car part why to recycle it? keeping your car on the road with recycled car parts will prolong its life, will save you money and will definitely conserve the natural resources of our planet.

Magda, I like what you said about the benefits of buying a recycled car part, and the thing that doing this is an environmentally friendly action, which means you would be helping the environment by lessening waste.

My mom keeps an old vintage car in her garage without taking it to the junkyard due to sentimental reasons. Perhaps during my spare time, I will try to restore it and only use recycled car parts to conserve the natural resources of our planet. Thanks for this!
