Tesla Model S P100D Ludicrous Smashes a Ferrari 458 Italia in a Recent Drag Race

Tesla Model S P100D Ludicrous smashes a Ferrari 458 Italia in a very recent drag race.

Tesla Model S P100D Ludicrous has a long history in terms of drag racing against the famous Ferrari 458 Italia.

I remember that in January, 2015, Darius posted an article called “Tesla Model S P85D vs. Ferrari 458 Italia Drag Race” that was actually a street drag race, and in which Tesla lost the race after about 300 yards even having a very good start in that race.

Ferrari 458 Italia was simply too strong, too light, and too fast for Tesla Model S P85D.

However, the latest version of Tesla Model S P100D (I guess with the Ludicrous upgrade) seems to have no problem when drag racing against this famous Ferarri.

The drag race we are going to watch today took place last week at Santa Pod Raceway in England.

Let’s see the cars first:

Tesla Model S P100D Ludicrous is an all-wheel drive (AWD) electric supercar that uses two electric motors generating together 762 HP and 713 lb-ft. of torque.

Tesla S P100D Ludicrous accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.28 seconds, which makes it the fastest production car ever built.

Tesla is quite a heavy vehicle due to its lithium-ion battery pack (4,950 lbs.), and another thing that could affect its performance in a drag race is represented by its limited top speed (155 mph).

Ferrari 458 Italia uses a 4.5 Liter V8 engine developing 570 HP and 398 lb-ft. of torque.

You will say that this is nothing compared with the power and torque of the Tesla vehicle.

The real difference between these two vehicles is represented by the weight of the Ferrari (3,274 lbs.), which makes it extremely agile.

Ferrari 458 Italia does 0 to 60 mph in 3.1 seconds, and ends the 1/4 mile race in just 10.8 seconds, which makes it a very strong opponent for the Tesla vehicle.

Tesla won easily because the driver of the Ferrari fell asleep at the start of the race?
